Nevada State Parks
History abounds in Nevada and much of it has been captured in several historic state parks. Mormon Station State Historic Park features a log cabin museum with information on the early days of Nevada, Dayton State Park is a repository for the remains of Rock Point Mill from the Gold Rush, and Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park houses restored buildings with original artifacts from the mid-1800s. These and other Nevada State Parks also welcome visitors who are interested in outdoor activities, including hiking, swimming, bird watching, boating and fishing. Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park

At one time the private home of Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg, who was a businessman, rancher and politician, this historic park features restored original buildings, such as the main house, stone cellar, laundry building, carriage house, and bunkhouse. On display inside the buildings are original artifacts from the mid-1800s.

Situated in Dayton, Nevada, east of Carson City, Dayton State Park is perfect for camping, bird watching, and fishing in the Carson River, which runs right through the park. An historic site of sorts can be seen in the park as well. Don't miss checking out the Rock Point Mill, which processed silver ore from nearby Virginia City during the Gold Rush.

Enjoy several fun areas served up by Lake Tahoe-Nevada State Park. Sand Harbor near Incline Village boasts a boat launch, picnicking facilities, and sandy beaches. Memorial Point and Hidden Beach offer great views of Lake Tahoe and lots of privacy for visitors to its inviting shores. Spooner Lake is an idyllic spot that's ideal for hiking, picnicking, cross-country skiing, fishing, and mountain biking.

Situate on the California Emigrant Trail in Genoa, Nevada, Mormon Station State Historic Park houses an intimate log cabin museum, where you can learn about the early days of Nevada. The park, which was originally a trading post for people en route to California looking for gold, also features a stockade area with several wagons, trails, and picnic sites.

Located 15 miles south of Reno, Nevada, Washoe Lake State Park offers a wide range of things to do, from birding, hiking, and horseback riding to windsurfing, water skiing, and fishing. In addition, there's a campground, boat launches, and a wetlands area with a viewing tower along with interpretive displays.
