Hiking & Climbing at Yosemite National Park. Yosemite Valley, 3,000 feet deep and a mile or two wide, is known for its landmark rock formations. A gigantic, granite monolith Half Dome is the most recognized symbol of Yosemite rising 4,000 feet above the Valley floor. The perpendicular face of Half Dome - one of America's "Big Walls" – is an extreme challenge for technical climbers.
Hike up the scenic trails to Glacier Point, perhaps the most famous viewpoint in Yosemite. A favorite for experienced rock climbers, El Capitan ascends almost 3,000 feet above the Valley floor and is the largest monolith of granite in the world. Hike to the top of Sentinel Rock or Yosemite Point for inspiring views of the entire Valley.
